Modern Designer Valentino Collection

Image
Valentino Collection Anyone looking for proof that it is a new day at Valentino need only have tuned in to the Golden Globes, where Chloë Sevigny nabbed an award in a gown by the label's new designers, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli. It wasn't so outré that Mr. Valentino would have disapproved, but it was definitely more avant than anything the label's founder was doing before they retired. That is a lovely way to report the duo's pre-fall collection. The lace, the exquisite beadwork, and the ruffles and frills the house is known for are still there, but they are executed in a more modern (read: shorter) way. Now in their fifth season with the house (counting couture), Chiuri and Piccioli did red for the first time. But we are not talking your typical Valentino red chiffon. In lieu, they showed a patent trench, leather motorbike pants worn with a fox overweight in the same hue, as well as a party dress of red paillettes sewn onto nude tulle. Piccioli c...

New Yasmin Le Bon and Limited Collection at Wallis

Image
I have been checking out the Wallis website periodically looking for a leather t-shirt that not only had I seen in the press, but also on the wonderful blog that's not my age, but alas I have been unable to find it, which I suppose takes away the dilemma of whether a woman classed as the Wallis Demographic, would actually wear such an item. However, I did take a closer look today as I saw their Yasmin Le Bon spring collection is finally in stock. What took so long? Why wasn't it in when all the other Spring pieces hit the stores? Did they think that by keeping the customers waiting that bit longer, it may lead them to believe it is something really special? Well I am not sure I think it is. Firstly it doesn't seem to consist of many pieces, unless of course there is another drop to come and although there were two pieces I really liked (pictured below) I couldn't really see any 40 something in the floral tiered maxi dress to be honest and I am not sure I can see Mrs Le ...

Came Up With LV Monogram Musette

Image
Last week daughter one, Chloe, came up with her LV Monogram Musette and asked OH to put it in the Royal Exchange City branch for repair. One of the straps had come out, and looked as though it would need restitching. OH thought it would be a good idea to just go to a local Shoe Repairers, but I was having one of it, saying that it would devalue the Bag. We had bought this for Chloe almost 6 years ago for her 14th Birthday from the Bond Street Branch and although it has been used a fair bit, it hasn't been used everyday. I can remember times when she has pinched bags of mine and used them for months on end, Celine Boogie Bag and Mark Jacobs Stam and I have had a hell of a job prising them off her for me to sell on ebay! Also bear in mind that one of my Boogie Bags, the large brown one, she still has and uses, even though it now looks almost as tatty and old as me! She was at school until she was 18, so the bag didn't get a great deal of use in its first four years. OH took it to...
