Military styles can be seen everywhere. From tops to dresses, blazers and cargos designers are loving the look of military influenced fashion and now you can rock the trend. You can wear this trend simply by wearing hues inspired by the military aka olives, khaki's, and navy hues. Strong shoulders or shoulder pads are also highly influenced by the military style. You can also try items that have embellishments of fringes along the shoulder blade for the trendiest military style. For Summer 2010 cargo shorts and capri's are perfect for showing off your legs and your love for military fashion. Come fall 2010 we'll be seeing plenty more styles that have a strong military feel. Alice Meets Taylor Latest Trend | Fashion Trend Collection

Being completely honest, I truly am not into today's pop artists and their style. I very much hate it sometimes when they are named fashion icons and/or turn into fashion designers and haven't even set foot in a design school. Ok, enough with the rant. Now this editorial has made me make an exception. The New York Times Style Magazine featured Taylor Swift in their most recent issue and I must say how impressed I am with this shoot. It was an Alice in Wonderland inspired shoot that definitely took my breath away. I must say I admire how poised, elegant and sweet she looks in every pic. I adore how the makeup looks on her and how she adds grace to everything she's wearing. She totally earns the title of fashion icon in my book.

Takahiro Miyashita Men's Fashion Designer | Fashion Trend Collection

Image
As you all might notice from past posts, I'm getting quite interested in men's fashion a lot more than I ever was. There is something intriguing about this field, something untouched. Maybe the limitations that uninspire some designers and just attach them to creating just for women are a challenge to me. The colors, cuts, understanding the men clothing psyche, what appeals to them and what they want to express thru style is something I'm wanting to venture. Anyhoo, browsing around searching for a messenger bag for school (yes, I'm already shopping for school -any excuse is good for shopping, no?) I fell in love with this Japanese designer. I accidentally found one of his bags for sale on ebay and just flipped head over heels about everything else Takahiro Miyashita has designed. His line Number (N)ine was driving hiatus lane for a while but he's now back and I'm sooo happy I discovered him. These are some insane pieces from past collections:

Glee Geek Fashion | Fashion Trend Collection

I might have gotten the Glee bug a little late (been watching them for a bit more than a month -still trying to finish the first season) but I just had to share this cute editorial on the girl cast of the show. Though I do think the shoot was a tad short (well the amount of posted pics is just 3 or 4) it still reflected how fun the show and cast really are.

New Designer Update Chase Cohl | Fashion Trend Collection

Image
I have been told a few million times that I cannot ever be two things at once, that I should either stick to music or fashion, because "you simply cannot love both things equally"! Boy, are they all soooo wrong! Singer/Songwriter and Accessory designer Chase Cohl has definitely taught me otherwise. This amazing artist is a sweet indie/boho musician and designer that remains true to herself and you can very much feel that in her pieces and songs. Littledoe is the name of her line so make sure to have a look see. =) Some of her Littledoe creations:

The 10 Commandments of Fall | Fashion Trend Collection

Image
On our last trip to the Salvation Army, my sis and I got hold of a 2003 September Issue of Vogue. We spotted it amongst the sea of magazines that were on this huge shelf - the issue is incredibly huge so yes, it caught our eye quickly. We found this cool article on the 10 Commandments of Fall - definitely stuff I will follow to have the fashion gods in my favor, lolz. I think though they are 2003 advice, they are applicable to any Fall Season, my notes are in red. The 10 Commandments of Fall 1.Be Perpetually Polished-from the tips of your fingers to the toes of your alligator shoes, well groomed sheen is queen. 2.Keep Them Guessing-over the knee boots and leather opera gloves, leave something to the imagination. 3.Take a Deep Breath-waist cinching coats, curve clutching skirts and tight little sweaters are sleek, sharp and positively aerodynamic. 4.Invest in a Chic Party Dress- dance floor sweeping or upper thigh grazing, this season's after-dark looks are seriously ...

Alexander Wang And Vena Cava hit Gap | Fashion Trend Collection

I have a feeling that I won't be having that much left over cash this Summer. Why, oh why are designers teaming up with affordable brands?? Ok, it is a good thing, but it's gonna leave me broke! I mean after J.P. Gautier's and Zac Posen's (tho I was kinda dissapointed with Zac's - the prices are a tad out of my league; I am a poor college student after all) collections with Target and now Alex Wang & Vena Cava bringing the khaki deal back to life (and to my closet) I won't have any spending money left over for ice cream. However the pieces are pretty imaginative. Safari anyone?? The designers: The Pieces:

Wonderful Betsey Johnson Collection | Fashion Trend Collection

Image
All you need to create something astonishing is hidden in the past. History is a wonderful source of inspiration, of knowledge. I believe this year's Betsey Johnson Collection has this explosion of the New and the Old. I believe that she not only combined elements from past designs (like the flower on the dress - that was pretty typical of her designs in the 90's) but she has a marvelous representation of past decades of fashion history colliding with modern looks and uncontrollable splashes of color in every piece. I just had to pick my fave designs from this Fall's collection to show you all. =) Enjoy!! j Isn't she awesome!! Ok, so I love her style and how she does the cartwheel in every one of her runways; so unique. Oh, tomorrow is finally my 23rd b-day! Yes, I'm ultra excited even though I must go to work and proceed with my everyday weekday tasks, lol. I can't help but feel that I'm getting older and it does somewhat frighten me. Still ...
